Exploration History

1944: Headway Red Lake Gold Mines was incorporated. 1946: A large amount of stripping and trenching was completed, 28 holes drilled totalling 1885 m, and a geological survey was completed. 1963: Ground electromagnetic, magnetic, and geological surveys were completed, and five holes were drilled. 1977: Property owned by L.A. Pigeon. 1984: Aupan Red Lake Resources Ltd. C.D Hudson and P. English reported upon a VLF-EM survey. 1987-1988 Gunner Gold Inc. conducted exploration program on the Headway property, including magnetometer, VLF-EM and a pole-dipole IP survey. Four holes totalling 526.45 m were drilled to test IP anomalies. 1991: William McNerney stripped and sampled an area on the east side of Hwy 125 and drilled 2 holes. 1997-1999: Rubincon Minerals Corporation and Norcal Resources Ltd mapped the geology pf the property and drilled two holes for a total of 1201.83 m. 2003-2005: Kings Bay Gold Corp carried out three programs of exploration drilling of ten drill holes in 2003, 5 in 2004 and 12 in 2005. 2009: Mega Precious Metals Inc optioned to acquire a 100% interest int the Headway Project. 2011: Mega Precious Metals carried out drilling.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The claims are underlain mainly by altered mafic flows. Narrow units of pillow breccia occur in the vicinity of the showing. The flows are commonly well pillowed, amygdaloidal, and in places contain abundant plagioclase phenocrysts. The flows strike N60 degs W and dip steeply south. Stratigraphic tops are to the south. Numerous porphyry dikes and lamprophyre dikes are present in all parts of the sequence.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - Main showing:Auriferous quartz stringers in sheared granite porphyry dike, cutting altered mafic flows. Note: South showing does not indicate any intrusives near the mineralized zone, but is also a shear.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - HEADWAY NO. 2- MAIN SHOWING: A granite porphyry dike, 1.8 m to 2.4 m in width was uncovered for 460 m. The dike strikes northwest. Erratic gold values occur in quartz stringers in diagonal and cross joints in the dike. The stringers are usually less than 2.5 cm wide, and contain minor sulphides. In general gold values on the property are very erratic. Visible gold has been observed in some of the quartz stringers. HEADWAY NO. 2- SOUTH SHOWING: Numerous quartz-carbonate stringers, usually less than 2.5 cm in width, and about a metre in length occur in a 3.7 m wide shear zone in altered mafic flows. The distribution of the gold is erratic along the strike of the zone. The zone strikes N70 degs with the regional schistosity, and dips vertically. It has been traced on surface for about 440 m.

Sep 01, 2022 (Q Unknown) - 1946 DDH: range 0.3 opt Au/28 inches to 2.74 opt Au/2 ft. Occurrence consists of 3 different occurrences on same claim area. Significant results from the 1988 drill program included 3.701 g/t over 0.63 m. Significant intercepts from the Kings Bay Gold drilling in 2003-2005 included 24,000 ppb over 0.61 m, and 39,765 ppb over 2.07 m among other high grades.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - HEADWAY NO. 2 SHOWING: The mafic volcanics in the area have been strongly carbonatized and silicified. Tourmaline has been noted in some of the quartz veins in the porphyry in the main zone.
