Exploration History

1925: Dome Mines performed trenching and limited drilling, optioning off of the Red Lake Prospector's Syndicate. 1937-38: W.C. and J.E. Durham did some X-ray drilling. 1945: Durham Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. was incorporated and performed geological mapping and 4605.2 m of diamond drilling. 1946: Prospecting, trenching, and 610 m of diamond drilling occurred. 1947: 4193.45 m of diamond drilling. 1959: Company name changed to Consolidated Durham Mines and Resources, and Dickenson Mines Ltd. took control of several claims. 1960: Parvus Mines Ltd. was incorporated to take over both Dickenson and Durham claims. 1962: An unrecorded amount of diamond drilling occurred. 1971: Geophysical surveys. 1972: Six holes totalling 872.3 m were drilled. 1973: One short hole drilled, and geophysical surveys performed.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The property is located southwest of the Dome Stock. The principal rock types underlying the property are, mafic metavolcanic flows and mafic to ultramafic intrusions. Locally, the matavolcanic flows are carbonatized, silicified and deformed, and in the past have been described as felsic to intermediate flows and pyroclastic rocks. The mafic to ultramafic intrusions are sill-like bodies of gabbro and serpentinite. A small body of quartz porphyry outcrops in the eastern part of the property. The gold is hosted in a large quartz vein system within the altered mafic metavolcanics. The ultramafic intrusives are indicated by a high magnetic profile. Several VLF-EM conductors have been recognized, and these represent either iron formation units (strong conductors) or shear zones(weak conductors).

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic metavolcanics flows are so highly carbonatized, silicifed and deformed that they were originally described as felsic to intermediate flows and pyroclastic rocks. The mafic to ultramafic intrusiopns are mainly gabbro and serpentinite.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The No. 2 quartz vein system occurs in altered and deformed mafic metavolcanics. The vein has been traced by drilling for almost 1000 m. Within this strike length, 3 or 4 sections contain high Au values. Some of the drill holes intersected 2 or more 'veins', suggesting the the quartz veins are possibly arranged in an en echelon fashion. Of the 3 or 4 sections with high gold values the best, over a strike length of 50 m returned the following assays: .204 opt Au/2.1 m, .263 opt Au/2.7 m, .315 opt Au/1.5 m. Isolated high assays from other parts of the # 2 Vein include: .66 opt Au/.61 m, .59 opt Au/.76 m, and 1.03 opt Au/1.1 m.

May 06, 2022 (Q Unknown) - Grade: 1940 channel samples: reported to assay up to 1.13 opt Au/1 ft, grade 1965 early drilling in E section: yields assays up to 1.2 opt Au/3 ft.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic metavolcanic rocks which contain the No. 2 vein have been locally highly carbonatized and silicified, and are very deformed next to the vein.
