Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The Abino Carbonate Showing is underlain by altered mafic metavolcanic flows. The flows have been highly carbonatized. The general strike of the rocks in the area is NE-SW. Dips are subvertical. Pillow structures indicate stratigraphic tops are to the NW. A small dyke/sill of sericite schist is present in the sequence.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic metavolcanics contain both massive and pillowed flows, both of which are altered. The sericite schist dyke/sill is origanlly a quartz-feldspar porphyry unit.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The carbonate zone on this occurrence is believed to be an extension of the zone which was mined on the adjoining McMarmac Red Lake Gold Mines property (MDI52NO4SW00033). Only limited drilling has been done on the structure on the Abino property. It is 1.5 m in thickness, and contains quartz carbonate veinlets which are well mineralized with arsenopyrite. An assay of 0.40 opt Au was obtained from a 1.6 m core sample from the first drill hole to intersect the zone. Subsequent holes returned values which ranged from 0.58 opt Au/0.37 m to 0.01 opt Au/0.46 m.

Aug 31, 2022 (Q Unknown) - 1944-59: several DDH intersections, best assay 0.36 opt Au/2.3 ft. 1975: DDH AK-34 at 219 ft, assays 0.08 opt Au / 2.8 ft.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic metavolcanics have been carbonatized and silicified.
