Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Uchi

Terrane: North Caribou

Domain: Uchi

Belt: Red Lake

Geological Age: Archean

Metamorphism Type: Regional

Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist

Geology Comments

Jul 30, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - The property is located along the northern edge of the Red Lake greenstone belt. The geology consists of Cycle I mafic metavolcanics rocks dated at 2992 to 2894 Ma (Wallace et al., 1986). They are overlain by a package of clastic metasedimentary rocks and intermediate volcanic rocks. The regional metamorphic grade is greenschist facies (Assessment report 20000006235).

Lithology Comments

Jul 30, 2020 (K R Kettles) - GEOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION: The occurenceis underlain by interlayered clastic metasedimentary rocks, consisting primarily of units of conglomerate, argillite, and greywacke. These units strike at approximately 050 deg. and are steeply dipping. Gabbro, diorite and lamprophyre dykes are intruded into these units. A wide quartz-feldspar porphyry unit is continuous across the area. DEPOSIT DESCRIPTION: Numerous quartz veins have been observed in all rock types. The veins rarely exceed 0.3m in width. GEOPHYSICAL DATA: Several EM anomalies with magnetic correlation were located.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - A 25 cm wide shear zone returned an assay of 0.10 oz./ton (3.429 g/tonne)Au.

Jul 30, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - A grab sample collected in 1988 returned 569 ppb Au from a quartz vein with 5% pyrite (Assessment report 20000006235). DDH DMC-02-A04 returned assays up to 1.355 ppm Au from a biotitic-carbonatized ultramafic. DDH DMC-02-A03 returned up to 3.27 ppm Au from a strongly magnetic, well bedded, magnetite-rich chert banded iron formation. DDH DMC-02-A04 returned up to 2.51 ppm Au from a banded iron formation (Assessment report 52N04SW2061).
