Exploration History

Abino Gold Mines incorporated in 1939. 1945: Trenching and drilled 13 holes totalling 439.81 m. 1946: Geological and magnetometer surveys, and 20 drill holes totalling 4385.29 m. 1959: 7 drill holes (depths unknown). 1959-1960: Mining plant and facilities installed and shaft sunk to 161.65 m. 3 levels to 161.65 m. 3 levels opened (61.0 m, 106.75 m, 152.5 m) and 864.68 m of lateral development completed as well as over 3000 m of underground drilling. 1975: 35 holes drilled totalling 5374.21 m. 1976: 21 holes drilled totalling 4518.21 m. 1977: 3 holes drilled totalling 367.77 m. 1982: Abino amalgamated with 9 other companies to form Goldquest Explorations Ltd. 1983: decline completed and underground diamond drilling. 1985 Goldquest drilled 8 holes for a total of 1,510.9 m. The high-grade stockpile from 1983 decline program was milled. (133 tonnes at 10.2 g/t Au) 1986 Goldquest began 880-feet of underground drifting and crosscutting from the bottom of the Abino decline into the hanging wall side. 564.9 tonnes of 1.8 g/t Au drift much and another 254 tonees from the 1983 decline development of 2.7 g/t materials was stockpiled on the Abino site. 1987 Goldquest drilled 16 holes. 1989 Chevron Minerals Canada Ltd too an option. 1990 Cheveron Minerals drilled 'EB' series surface holes. Trenching was also done. 1993 Goldcorp Inc drilled holes 1994 Goldcorp Inc drilled holes AB-94-142 to 173. Chevron's reserves were discounted to a mineral inventory of 65,000 tons at a grade of 9.0 pt/ 1997 Goldquest Exploration was amalgamated into Goldcorp Inc. 2000 New Lines were cut over portions of the previous grid for MMI survey. 2001 Goldcorp conducted a comprehensive exploration program. Included stripping, detailed mapping, MMI survey, line cutting, and diamond drilling. 34 holes totalling 15,964 m. (AF 2.26572)

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The prospect is situated to the northwest of the granodiorite zone. It is underlain by sheared highly carbonatized and silicified mafic flows.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 08, 2012 (K R Kettles) - Gold mineralization occurs in narrow shear zones which contain abundant fine arsenopyrite mineralization. Two narrow arsenopyrite rich shear zones which converge at depth have been investigated by drilling. The shear zones strike NE-SW and mineralization within the shear zones has been traced along strike for 90 m. The mineralized part of the shear zones is open to the NE. An assay of 0.40 opt Au was obtained from a 1.6 m core sample from the first drill hole to intersect the zone. Subsequent holes returned values which ranged from 0.58 opt Au/0.37 m, to 0.01 opt Au/0.46 m. 2001:DH AB01199 : 620.00 g/t Au over .70 m Best intersection, other intersections fro various other drill holes in the area, 5.5 g/t over 0.70 m, and 13.60 over 0.5 m.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The metavolcanics have been silicified, carbonatized, and are biotitic.
