1965: Claims staked on this occurrence and transferred to Dome Exploration (Canada) Ltd. 1966: Dome Exploration Canada Ltd. did considerable trenching on the claims before transferring the claims back to a Mr. Sanderson of Balmertown. 1966: Cochenour Willans Gold Mines Ltd. acquired an option on the claims and did a diamond-drilling program of 9 holes totalling 447 m. 1980: St. Joseph Explorations Ltd. staked claims covering the occurrence and did geological mapping and geophysical surveys. 1981: St. Joseph Explorations Ltd. did more geological mapping and geophysical surveys. They also did orientation soil geochemistry surveys, trenching and staked additional claims. 1984: Sulpetro Minerals Ltd. (name changed from St. Joseph Explorations Ltd.) did 14 diamond-drill holes totalling 2235 m on their claims. The post-1984 exploration history of the area is summarized by Nelson (2002).

Jan 16, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Rocks of the area of the Sanderson property occurrences include an approximately east-west striking supracrustal sequence that is dominated by mafic metavolcanic rocks, but also contains subordinate amounts of felsic metavolcanic and metasedimentary (both clastic and chemical) rocks (Nelson 2002). These supracrustal rocks form part of the >2800 Ma Kaminiskag Assemblage (Dinel et al. 2006). This suparacrustal sequence is bounded to the north and south by granitic intrusive rocks of the Scanes Lake Pluton and North Bamaji Lake Pluton respectively (Dinel et al. 2006). Nelson (2002) indicates that the supracrustal rocks are generally characterized by a weak east-west striking regional foliation. This foliation is generally sub-parallel to lithological contacts and has variable dip. Antiformal and synformal fold structures have also been identified in this area by Wallace (1985) and Nelson (2002). The Rockmere-Wesleyan Synform (which is located near the centre of the supracrustal sequence) has an approximately east-west-striking axial plane with a shallow to moderate east-plunging axis. A second northeast-striking antiformal structure has been mapped in the vicinity of the Sanderson Zone. Parker et al. (1995) describe an extensive regional gold-bearing system in the area that has been identified as the Slate Falls Deformation Zone. Gold mineralization is associated with discrete shear zones that have been mapped in all rock types. Nelson (2002) indicates that these structures generally strike approximately east-west (although they may vary from east-northeast to west-northwest) and have subvertical dips. Nelson (2002) also notes the presence of zones of brittle fracturing that tend to strike north-south and northeast-southwest.

Jan 16, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - The Sanderson occurrence or main vein is contained in a west-trending, north-dipping shear zone through mafic metavolcanics. The shear zone has been traced by trenching and diamond-drilling for about 270 m. The Sanderson occurrence is a set of 'irregular, lensoid, possibly boudinaged, milky quartz veins and stringers.' (Sage and Breaks, 1982). The veins vary in width up to 75 cm, but average less than 15 cm. The sulphide minerals reported in the veins are pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, tetrahedrite, pyrrhotite and galena. The sulphides occur as disseminations, stringers and local masses within the veins and along the contacts of the veins with the sheared mafic metavolcanics. Total sulphide content of the veins is up to 5% though local sulphide concentrations suggest a higher content. Visible gold has also been reported in the drill holes which cut the vein. The mafic metavolcanics in the vicinity of the occurrence are cut by irregular porphyritic biotite quartz diorite dykes. Assay values reported from the Sanderson occurrence range up to 0.74 oz/ton Au and 15.34 oz/ton Ag over 0.2 m from surface sampling and up to 25.12 oz/ton Au and 6.24 oz/ton Ag over 0.21 m in drill core (Cochenour Willans drill hole BS-66-11). Visible gold was reported in the Cochenour Willans drill core. The Sioux Lookout Staff Geologist examined the Sanderson occurrence in 1989 and took one grab sample for assay. It returned 0.59 oz/ton Au, 25.37 oz/ton Ag, 1.14% Cu, 7500 ppm Zn, and 1110 ppm Pb. Since 1993, the strike length of the mineralized zone has been extended from 270 to 625 m (Nelson 2002). Channel sampling of the zone reported by Nelson (2002) from 14 crosscuts returned average values of 5.5 g/t Au and 164 g/t Ag across 0.95 m over a strike length of 170 m. Two new mineralized shear-vein structures are reported by Nelson (2002) to have been identified immediately north and south of the original Sanderson Zone. The northern structure is located approximately 30 m north of the main zone and consists of an approximately 15 cm wide quartz vein in a 0.7 m wide, east-west striking, vertical shear zone. A gold assay of 6.1 g/t is reported from this vein by Nelson (2002). The southern shear occurs approximately 100 m south of the main zone and contains up to 5 cm wide quartz stringers that strike 110 with vertical dip. An assay value of 6.2 g/t Au and 885 g/t Ag is reported from this structure by Nelson (2002).
