Point Location Description: Trenches and diamond-drill holes.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: This occurrence is located about 31 km southwest of Pickle Lake and 900 m southwest of the creek mouth at the west end of Bancroft Lake (aka Ben Lake) on the south side of the creek. Access to this occurrence is by appropriately equipped aircraft to Bancroft Lake and then a traverse to the occurrence area. Bancroft Lake is very shallow with a soft bottom. It is not recommended that large aircraft land on it.
1959: Hasaga Gold Mines Ltd. optioned a claim block covering this occurrence from B. Ohman and K. Koval. Hasaga performed prospecting, geological mapping, trenching and diamond-drilling on the optioned claim block. 1963: Pickle Crow Gold Mines Ltd. sampled 5 trenches on this occurrence and reported significant gold values. 1982: 493217 Ontario Ltd. did ground mag and EM surveys which covered this occurrence. 1983-84: Moss Resources Ltd. conducted geological mapping, mag, EM, IP, trenching, rock and soil geochemistry surveys which covered this occurrence. This included trenching and sampling and was followed up by a 20 hole, 1522.78 m, diamond-drill program, including 3 DDH totalling 215.8 m on this zone. 1986: Power Explorations Inc. completed a 16 hole, 1430.43 m, diamond-drilling program on a claim block including 2 DDH totalling 76.22 m on this zone.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - This occurrence is exposed in a series of trenches along an east-trending strike length of about 180 m. The occurrence is hosted in a succession of mafic metavolcanics containing interlayers of iron formation. Quartz porphyry intrusives intrude the area. The gold mineralization is most commonly associated with sulphide-rich quartz stringers and fractures and with sulphide-poor iron formation and the surrounding mafic metavolcanics. Pyrrhotite and pyrite are observed in the trenches.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The best assay reported from this occurrence was 0.295 oz/ton Au over 46 cm.
May 29, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - Gold mineralization occurs in and near the main southern Iron formation band. A series of 11 trenches between lines 8+00W and 2+00W expose a 600-foot long gold-bearing zone. Gold mineralization occurs dominantly in altered banded iron formation but is also associated with altered biotite schist, limonitic quartz veins and mafic tuff. Considerable pyrrhotite and pyrite occur in several of the trenches. Gold mineralization appears to be most commonly associated with iron sulphides in quartz stringers and fractures although in some instances gold occurs in apparently unaltered, sulphide poor Iron formation and the enclosing mafic flows and tuffs. The best gold value of 0.295 oz/ton over 1.5 feet was obtained in the westernmost trench (#3-1). Trenches 3-4 and 3-5 located between lines 6+00W and 7+00W yielded 0.16 oz/ton over 5 feet and 0.102 oz/ton over 1.5 feet respectively. Values In other trenches averaged between 0.01 and 0.04 oz/ton gold (Assessment report 52O07SE0012). DDH BL-86-11 returned up to 0.021 oz/t Au over 1 foot from a mafic flow with 60-70% pyrite. BL-86-2 retuned up to 0.083 oz/t over 4 feet (2.85 g/t Au over 1.22 m) from Zone 3 banded iron formation (Assessment report 52O07SE0009).
