Jun 21, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - This discretionary occurrence is based on a soil sample assay of 1980 ppb Au that was reported to have been obtained from this location by Youngman (1985). Youngman (1985) reports that the soil sample was collected immediately adjacent to an exposure of felsic porphyry hosted within sheared metadacite. The outcrop is reported to contain numerous limonite-stained quartz stringers (0.5 to 2 cm thick) that cross-cut both the porphyry and dacite. Mineralization in the quartz veins includes tourmaline where they cross-cut the dacite, and up to 3% pyrite where they cross-cut the porphyry. Youngman (1985) also reports that this occurrence is located along strike with the North Dempster Lake occurrence (MDI52O07SW00006), located approximately 1200 m to the northeast.
