Mineralization Comments

Dec 22, 2006 (Mark Puumala) - The Pickwick occurrence is located in an area of limited bedrock exposure immediately north of the Kawinogans River. Diamond drilling in 1937 by Pickwick Gold Mines (AFRI# 52O09SE0131) is reported to have encountered significant gold mineralization in three diamond drill holes (P-12, 16 and 18). Mineralization was reported to occur in quartz veins within sheared and silicified metavolcanic rocks and banded iron formation. The most significant drill intersections were reported from ddh P-16, where up to 0.1 oz/ton Au was reported over 1.5 m in silicified metavolcanics containing a 4 cm wide quartz vein. The quartz vein is reported to have been mineralized with trace pyrite. This drill hole also reportedly encountered 0.08 oz/ton Au in a 1.2 m wide section of banded iron formation. This iron formation horizon reportedly contained up to 3% pyrrhotite. Early diamond drill results from the Pickwick property reportedly contained higher gold values. However, Thomson (1937) reported that re-assaying of the anomalous intersections returned insignificant gold values, and that the original results for ddh P-1 and 2 should be disregarded.
