Mineralization Comments

Mar 12, 2008 (Mark Puumala) - The Tex prospect is described by Talbot (1996) as a significant showing located where east- and northeast-trending structural fabrics intersect within a quartz diorite intrusion. This intersection has produced a stockwork of fractures and narrow shears hosting arsenopyrite, gold and minor pyrrhotite. The mineralized shear zones at this location are described by Piroshco, Breaks and Osmani (1989) as ranging in thickness from 0.6 to 1.8 m, with the most significant gold values associated with foliation subparallel pods of massive to disseminated arsenopyrite and numerous (0.15 to 1.0 m wide) quartz-pyrite-pyrrhotite veins and veinlets that occur intermittently along the shear zones. This occurrence is found in one of a series of discontinuous northeast- to east-trending shear zones that cross-cut the host gabbro intrusion in an area located to the north and east of Wesley Lake (Piroshco, Breaks and Osmani 1989). The N-9 (MDI000000000500) and Jardine showings (MDI53A05NW00002) located to the west, are associated with the same series of structures. Numerous significant assay results have been reported from this showing by various authors including Londry (1984), Hodge and Corkery (1986), Joliffe (1987), Piroshco, Breaks and Osmani (1989) and Talbot (1996) from surface grab, chip and channel samples, and diamond drill holes. Some of the most notable assay results include the following: 0.14 oz/ton Au over 2.44 m in diamond drill hole TN-84-1 (Londry 1984); 0.32 oz/ton Au over 0.9 m in drill hole TN-84-6 (Londry 1984); 0.17 oz/ton Au over 2.2 m in drill hole TN-86-1 (Hodge and Corkery 1986); 0.18 oz/ton Au over 1.07 m in drill hole TN-86-2 (Hodge and Corkery 1986); 0.13 oz/ton over 1.61 m in a chip sample collected from Trench K (Joliffe 1987). Talbot also (1996) reported grab sample assays of up to 147.2 g/t from this showing.
