Mineralization Comments

Aug 28, 2019 (Mark Puumala) - Elliott and Corkery (1988) reported anomalous gold values at this location from a quartz-carbonate vein hosted by sheared mafic metavolcanic flows. The mafic metavolcanic rocks are part of the South Rim unit of the McGruer assemblage, and the occurrence is located approximately 250 m west of the contact with the Eyapamikama metasedimentary assemblage (Thurston, Osmani and Stone 1991). The mineralized quartz vein is approximately 0.3 m wide and 9 m long, and is parallel to the shear zone, which is oriented 142/82 (Elliott and Corkery 1988). The vein is mineralized with trace arsenopyrite. Notable assays included a grab sample result of 4725 ppb Au and a 20 cm chip sample result of 1250 ppb Au (Assessment report 53B09NW0004). This mineralized vein system was subsequently tested at depth by Power Explorations diamond drill hole number OP-87-A-42 (Corkery and Elliott 1988). This drill hole intersected zones of phlogopite alteration and several quartz-carbonate veinlets. However, no significant gold values were reported (Corkery and Elliott 1988).
