Mineralization Comments

Sep 11, 2019 (Mark Puumala) - Thurston, Sage and Siragusa (1979) reported that anomalous gold mineralization occurs at this location in a zone that was interpreted to be a sulphide facies iron formation (possibly sulphidized oxide facies iron formation). Mineralization consisted of massive pyrite with quartz stringers that assayed 0.13 oz/ton Au over 3.6 m. Figure 8 of Thurston, Sage and Siragusa (1979) indicates that the occurrence is found within an approximately 200 m wide north-striking iron formation that is bounded to the east and west by mafic metavolcanic rocks. Numerous anomalous gold assays were reported nearby from Placer Dome diamond drill hole MUS577 (Assessment report 53B09SW0009). The most notable anomalous zones were intersections between 93.1 to 107.45 m and 153.2 to 177.2 m that were logged as chert-magnetite iron formation/garnet-biotite schist. The upper mineralized zone was reported to be mineralized with quartz-carbonate veins and pyrrhotite, while both gold mineralized horizons were reported to be significantly deformed (i.e., including brecciation, folds, fracture cleavage) and exhibited significant grunerite alteration of magnetite. An average assay value of 0.83 g/t Au over 14.35 m (maximum of 1.71 g/t over 1 m) was reported in the upper zone, while an average assay of 0.82 g/t Au over 24 m (maximum of 1.99 g/t over 1.5 m) was reported in the lower zone.
