Mineralization Comments

Mar 14, 2008 (Mark Puumala) - The L-4 showing is described by Timoshenko (1988) as a highly sheared, silicified and weakly mineralized zone hosted in a band of oxide facies iron formation and mafic metavolcanics. This approximately north-northeast-striking zone is located along strike with the L-1 showing (MDI53B09SW00010), which is located approximately 1100 m to the north-northeast. Mapping by Hodge (1982) indicates that this occurrence is located adjacent to the contact between the host mafic metavolcanic rock-dominated sequence and a large felsic intrusion that occurs to the west. The mafic metavolcanic unit appears to form a thin (<200m) north-northeast-striking wedge that is also bounded to the east by felsic intrusive rocks. Hodge (1982) described the mineralization at the L-4 showing as consisting of 10% pyrite and trace chalcopyrite. A 1.83 m chip sample taken across this zone was reported by Hodge (1982) to have assayed 0.05 oz/ton Au. Timoshenko (1988) reported grab sample assays of 0.086 oz/ton Au from a sample of quartz vein material collected from the sheared, silicified mafic metavolcanics, and 0.093 oz/ton Au from a sample collected at the sheared contact between the mafic metavolcanics and granite.

Sep 11, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - Samples collected in 1987 returned values of 2.955 g/t Au from a quartz vein in mafic metavolcanics and 3.188 g/t Au from a talc-chlorite-amphibolite schist at a sheared contact between mafic metavolcanics and granites (Assessment report 53B09SW0004).
