Mineralization Comments

Jun 05, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Bateman (1939) indicates that the rocks in the vicinity of this occurrence consist of a drag-folded series of conglomerates interbedded with slates, slaty iron formation and rusty-weathering greywacke. Sparse sulphide mineralization was reported by Bateman (1939) in three stripped areas hosted in quartz pebble conglomerate and greywacke. Mineralization in the conglomerate is described as sparsely-disseminated pyrite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite in the sericitized matrix between pebbles, while mineralization in the greywacke is described as disseminated sulphides in sheared, drag-folded, rusty-weathered and carbonatized material. Mapping of the rocks in the area of this occurrence by Bateman (1939) indicates that bedding and foliation generally strike northwest with near-verical dip. All assays from this zone were reported by Bateman (1939) to be less than 0.03 oz/ton Au, although visible gold was reported to have been panned from a band of cherty iron formation.
