Mineralization Comments

Jun 05, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Wood (1980) describes this occurrence as consisting of several arsenopyrite-fuchsite-tourmaline veins hosted in clastic metasedimentary rocks (including sandstone and conglomerate). The metasedimentary rocks are indicated to be mineralized with galena (apparently not related to the arsenopyrite veins) and have been intruded by muscovite-garnet pegmatite (likely related to the Makataiamik Lake Stock). The largest arsenopyrite vein is indicated to be a near-vertical structure that strikes approximately 020. This vein is also indicated to be approximately 1.2 m wide, and was exposed at surface over a strike length of approximately 15 m. Brereton (1987) reports that the vein is exposed in a second trench approximately 35 m south of the main showing and estimates that it has an approximate strike length of 55 to 60 m. Stratigraphy in the vicinity of the occurrence is indicated by Wood (1980) to strike approximately 100. Quartz veins (up to 0.3 m wide) with orientations approximately parallel to stratigraphy also occur in the vicinity of the occurrence. However, the relationship of these veins to the arsenopyrite veins is unknown. Another notable structure described by Wood (1980) at this location was a 140-striking shear zone. Wood (1980) reported a grab sample assay of 0.05 oz/ton Au and 0.4% Pb from a sample collected from the large arsenopyrite vein. Diamond drilling of this occurrence by Scurry Rainbow Oil in 1968 (AFRI# 53C07NW0506) produced a number of anomalous silver, copper, lead and zinc assays. Brereton (1987) reports grab sample assays of .05 oz/ton Au, 17% As, 0.5% Zn.
