1970: Diamond drilling by McBean Investments. 1985-86: McBean Investments Ltd and Noranda: explored the Peridotite Bay and Pontoon Bay areas for VMS mineralization. 1985: BP-Selco conducted a humus sampling survey. 1996: Phelps Dodge completed induced polarization and mag surveys, followed by several diamond drill holes exploring for Cu-Au mineralization under central North Spirit Lake. 2007: Perry English staked the area for gold and VMS mineralization and optioned the property to Rubicon Minerals Corp. 2008-09: HTX Minerals completed mapping, sampling, geochemical analysis and petrographic examinations concentrating on the Ni-Cu-PGE potential of the ultramafic rocks. 2010: HTX Minerals collected a 75 kg sample for mineralogical testing.

Jun 04, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - The area geology is described in MDI53C07NW00025.
Aug 28, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The area is underlain by an isoclinally folded metavolcanic-metasedimentary sequence and a batholithic granitic intrusive association (Vos et al, 1982).

Aug 28, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The original volcanic rocks ranged in composition from basalt to rhyodacite; original sediments included conglomerates, sandstones, mudstones, carbonates, and cherts. Ultramafic, mafic, intermediate, and felsic intrusions were emplaced in the volcanic and sedimentary strata. These were subsequently folded and metamorphosed, and intruded by the granitic batholithic rocks which now surround (on a regional scale) the metavolcanic-metasedimentary sequence. The major folds are isoclinal and trend west of north and east of north. Large scale fault structures are present in the western and central parts of the area. The deposit occurs in a metamorphosed ultramafic rock unit south of the North Spirit Lake Fault (Wood, 1977).

Jun 04, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - This occurrence is described by Wood (1977) as having been found in an outcrop of ultramafic rock (may be metavolcanic or intrusive) that was mineralized with fine, disseminated oxide and sulphide mineralization. A diamond drill hole advanced at this location by McBean Investments in 1970 (AFRI# 53C10SW0012) was also interpreted by Wood (1977) to have encountered sulphide mineralization in fractured ultramafic rock (i.e., described on ddh log as massive, fine to medium equigranular, dark green, medium softness, medium to highly chloritic and partly talcose). Wood (1977) indicates that the rocks in the vicinity of this occurrence are characterized by complex folding. Assay values reported by Wood (1977) include 0.14% Ni, 0.28% Cr, 0.16% Mn, 0.01% Co and 0.05% Ti. A copper assay of 0.16% Cu was reported from a 1.37 m section of core from McBean Investments ddh N-S-70-1 (AFRI# 53C10SW0012).
Aug 28, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - In 2010, an approximately 75 kg sample was collected from the NSL iron formation that was thought to be representative of the bulk composition of the iron formation. Initial assays reported in a previous assessment report (W1020.02435) indicated that sample E534311 (10TRH013 - - 5817715mN /509653mE /339mElev – NAD83 Zn15) contained 31.1% Fe. The mineralogical analysis indicated that the ore contained 87% magnetite and 13% hematite (AFRI 20000006799).
