Mineralization Comments

Nov 02, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Ayres reported the presence of a 1.2 m wide concordant quartz vein at this location within rusty-weathering mafic metavolcanics. The vein is indicated on ODM Map P.538 (Ayres 1970) to be mineralized with pyrite and chalcopyrite. Stratigraphy and foliation in this area are subparallel and strike approximately northwest. Mapping by Stone, Fogal and Fitzsimmon (1993) indicates that the occurrence is located within the Bear Head fault zone. The occurrence is also located in close proximity to a north-northeast-striking diabase dike. Ayres (1970) reported a copper assay of 0.54% from a grab sample collected from the quartz vein.
