Lithology Comments

Jul 31, 2019 (Andrew Tims) - GoldenShare divided the showing into East and West. The plotted location is halfway between the showings. The East Newconex occurrence consists of several approximately north-south striking quartz veins up to 60 cm wide, with a strike length of approximately 600 m. The West Newconex, located approximately 60 metres east of the main trenches consists of several discontinuous veins up to 0.6 m wide that strike between 060 and 070. These veins are hosted within narrow shear zones that crosscut the felsic intrusion. The sheared wall rocks are intensely sericitized, and pyritic, while the veins are mineralized with disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite, with minor galena and native copper.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 31, 2019 (Mark Puumala) - Atkinson et al. (1990) indicate that the Newconex occurrence is located within a trondhjemite intrusion, near the contact with a serpentinized ultramafic (peridotite) intrusion. The occurrence is reported by Ayres (1972a) to consist of several approximately north-south-striking quartz veins (up to 60 cm wide) that were traced by trenching over a strike length of approximately 20 m. The main quartz vein is reported by Atkinson et al. (1990) to follow a 350-striking contact between the felsic intrusion and an 8 m wide gossan-stained, sulphide-bearing mafic dike. The vein has been traced for a strike-length of 12 m, and ranges from 0.2 to 2 m in width. The vein is reported to contain abundant pyrite and chalcopyrite with malachite staining. Atkinson et al. (1990) also report the presence of a rock dump on the edge of the outcrop that contains fragments of intensely sheared mafic rocks that contain abundant sphalerite, galena and green mica. A second surface showing is located approximately 60 m east of the main trenches. This showing is reported by Atkinson et al. (1990) to consist of several discontinuous veins up to 0.6 m wide that strike between 060 and 070. These veins are hosted within narrow shear zones that cross-cut the felsic intrusion. The sheared wall rocks are intensely sericitized, and pyritic, while the veins are mineralized with disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite, with minor galena and native copper (Atkinson et al. 1990). Ayres (1972a) indicated that this mineralized zone is approximately 3 m wide and has a strike length of 42 m. Cruickshank (1988) reports that the Newconex showings are located at the northwest end of a series of small (up to 40 cm wide) auriferous quartz veins that occur parallel to a major northwest-striking fault structure (mapped by Ayres 1972a) over a strike length of approximately 600 m. All of the showings located to the southeast occur in felsic intrusive (trondhjemite) outcrops, near the edge of a low-lying area that parallels the interpreted fault structure. One of the more significant trenched occurrences at the southeast end of this trend is referred to as the Geotest occurrence (MDI000000000355) by Atkinson et al. (1990). Numerous grab sample assays from this occurrence collected by the Ontario Geological Survey and Geotest Corporation are reported by Atkinson et al. (1990) to have contained anomalous concentrations of gold, silver, copper, zinc and lead. Notable assays from the veins include: 4.62 oz/ton Au in a sample of the main vein reported by Ayres (1972a); 11.2 g/t Au in a sample collected from the main vein by Geotest (Cruickshank 1988); 0.54 oz/ton Au, 2.18 oz/t Ag, 0.52% Cu, 1.36% Pb and 1.63% Zn from samples collected from the eastern showing by Ayres (1972a); and 1.98 oz/ton Ag, 15.5% Pb and 5.5% Zn from a sample of mafic rock mineralized with sphalerite and galena that was reported by Atkinson et al. (1990). During 1997, Wolfden Resources advanced two diamond drill holes (SN9713 and SN9714) in the vicinity of this occurrence, which was referred to by Downie (1997) as the Contact Zone. This drilling is reported to have intersected two mineralized veins. Notable assays reported by Downie (1997) include 2.51 g/t Au, 29.6 g/t Ag and 1% Zn over 1.7 m in ddh SN9713 and 1.26 g/t Au over 1.4 m in DDH SN9714.

Jul 31, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - Samples from the 2014 prospecting program returned results of up to 0.98% Zn, 0.07% Cu, 0.327 ppm Au, and 61.7 ppm Ag from the East Newconex zone, and 0.56% Zn, 0.29% Cu, 8.68 ppm Au, and 28.1 ppm Ag from the West Newconex showing (Assessment report 20000008320).
