Mineralization Comments

Nov 01, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - This discretionary occurrence is described by Ayres (1971) as consisting of up to 15% disseminated pyrrhotite, pyrite and minor chalcopyrite hosted within a gabbroic sill. The mineralization is reported to occur in intermittent bedrock exposures found in an area that that covers approximately 6 m by 15 m. Mapping by Ayres (1972) indicates that the mineralized intrusion strikes approximately west-northwest, and is hosted within a sequence of felsic to intermediate metavolcanics, immediately northeast of the contact with a granitic intrusion that forms the southern boundary of this portion of the Favourable Lake greenstone belt. Foliation is indicated by Ayres (1972) to be oriented 300/45 in the vicinity of the occurrence. A grab sample assay of 0.16% Cu was reported by Ayres (1972).
