Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: 225 km North of Red Lake and 70 km SE of the Manitoba-Ontario boundry. Sandy Lake settlement is 7 km north, served by regular airline flights.



Exploration History

During the late 1930s and early 1940s, was prospected for gold. 1981-82: Canadian Occidental carried out a shoreline mapping program. 1990: L.D.S. Winter reviewed the Sandy Lake properties for Goldeye Explorations. 2013: Goldeye Explorations Ltd. carried out IP and magnetic surveys. 2015: Cover by a 1274 km magnetic/VTEM survey for GPM Metals Inc.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 16, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - Bennett and Riley (1969) describe the showing as follows: “An island about two miles south of the settlement of Sandy Lake consists in part of conglomerate and sandstone. A 6-inch wide gossan zone in the sandstone was sampled and gave upon assay 0.03 ounces of gold per ton. The zone trends N40E.” A map in Assessment report 20000008331 indicates that sample 3818 returned an assay of 12 ppb Au and 5464 ppm Cu.
