Lithology Comments

Aug 15, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - The massive sulphides are found in a brecciated volcanic rock, and the disseminated mineralization is found in banded tuffs or sedimentary rocks. A granite contact is indicated within 500 feet north of the Derniere Lake showing and parallels the mineralized zone (Hudec, 1964).

Mineralization Comments

Aug 15, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - Hudec (1964) reported a mineralized zone at least 30 feet wide and 1000 feet long on the south shore of Derniere Lake about 5 miles southeast of Jackfish Lake. The zone is in brecciated mafic metavolcanics and contains disseminated to massive pyrrhotite and pyrite with minor chalcopyrite. A body, 3 feet wide, of massive pyrrhotite and pyrite occurs within the zone. It is visible only at low water and probably forms a discontinuous lens within the mineralized zone. Samples collected for assay by Hudec contained only trace amounts of base metals. The holes drilled by Great Plains Exploration in 1975 assayed up to 0.03% Cu and 0.01% Ni (Assessment report 53J01SW8147).
